SCREENING FOR THE TEST

Just a reminder that screening has started for Tam’s students in preparation for the upcoming promotion test happening next week. There is still one more week of screening.

To qualify for a test form and excel at the test:

  • Know your patterns.

  • Perform movements with intention (power, precision, control, speed, etc.)

  • Know all current testable knowledge (symbol + Korean name for your pattern, names of blocks, kicks, etc….)

Good luck to everybody and try your best! If you do not receive a test form, don’t forget there are future tests.

*If you did not receive a Test Form and don’t know why, please contact us via any method above or ask your instructor.

PROMOTION TEST

This upcoming promotion test happening Saturday, February 7 at North Kildonan Community Centre (1144 Kingsford Pl) will mark our:

  • 37th Colour Belt Promotion Test

  • 17th Poom/Dan Belt Promotion Test

Time: 9am - 12:30pm.

It is recommended that testing applicants arrive at 8:30am as promotion tests start promptly and right at 9am, starting with attendance. A quick group warm up is done before starting and will be beneficial to applicants as this will get them ready physically for the test.

For Poom/Dan applicants:

  • There is a written test + preparation with Master Tam for the physical test starting at 9am, we expect all these applicants to arrive at 8:30am as well.

  • There will be a quick lunch break once the Colour Belt test ends at 12:30pm, so please bring a light snack and a bottle of water to finish before starting the test.

*Keep in mind this is a test lasting around 2 hours, prepare as needed.

Anybody is allowed to spectate the Poom/Dan test and is beneficial to those wanting to test for this rank as this will prepare them for when the time comes.

! Just a reminder that awards are given out at the test and every applicant is capable of achieving one if they sparked during the test AND if they stayed until the end. !

Good luck to all testing applicants and make sure to get plenty of rest before the test!

*If you are unable to make it to the test, please inform your instructor or contact Tam’s Taekwondo to be informed of an in-class test.

*If you will be late or leaving early, please inform your instructor or contact Tam’s Taekwondo to make sure you are put in a testing group that will align with your arrival/leave.

MASTER KRISTY IS AWAY

Just a quick notice that Master Kristy Tam is away to coach at the 2026 Canadian Nationals starting Monday, February 2nd until Saturday, February 7th.

Any fees (test, membership, gear, etc.) from Sinclair Branch students must be given to Ms. Alexa Cabaltera.

Master Kristy Tam is still available through contact (recommended: phone number) if you have any personal discussions or inquiries.

NATHAN LUBIS @ 2026 NATIONALS

Like last year, Mr. Nathan Lubis will once again represent Tam’s Taekwondo and Manitoba at the 2026 Taekwondo Canada Nationals being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

He will fight in Kyorugi(sparring) in the weight divison of -36kg against 12 opponents in a double elimination format.

If you are interested in watching and supporting his fight, fight details will be posted via our social media (and/or emailed).

Please help us cheer for our Mr. Nathan Lubis as he journeys to Halifax and prepares for his many long matches against the best of the best! He is the first Tam’s student to fight in the Canadian Nationals and has fought in many tournaments ever since he started 5 years ago to be the fighter he is today.

We wish you all the best Mr. Lubis and safe travels! We believe you can obtain a medal, but even if you come home empty-handed we are all still so proud of you for doing your best!
